Soldiers, buffalo and a magic land

Hello again Kahunas, Have you been trying to figure out where I was? I am still in Kansas. I was just past Grand Junction wher I spent the night. I am back on Highway 70. I went to Fort Riley. It is a very big military base. The soldiers that were guarding the gate would not let me in until I showed them my identification. That means something that has my name on it to show who I am.. I showed them my drivers license that I got in Disneyland. It is Avery big place. I went to visit Custers house. He was a very important soldier that lived a long time ago and fought the Indians and bad guys. Across from his house were the parade grounds wher soldiers and horses marched in parades. Some of the horses were practicing and their riders waved at me. I sat I the chairs where the important soldiers and visitors sit. I was the only one at the practice parade. Do you see me hanging on a pole with a horse head on it? Whatdo you think it was used for?It used to have a big metal ring going through it. It was used before there were cars. I played with statues again. I climbed on a tank and a canon. Do you see the funny paint on the tank? What do you call that kind of paint? Why do you think it is painted that color?
I climbed ups if hill to see an atomic canon. It can shoot an 11 inch bullet 20 miles away. Measure how long 11 inches is and try to guess what might be 20 miles from your school. The army never had to shoot that canon.

Next I won't to a ranch where they raise buffalo. I am glad there was a fence. They are very, very, big animals. I sat on a baby and full size buffalo statue.

Did you guess the next place with a scarecrow, lion, and tin man? I bet you did. I went to a wonderful  museum about. Oz. That is one of my favorite stories and movie. The authors name was L. Frank Baum and he wrote lots of stories for children. Do you know there are many oz Bo oks?   One of my favorites has a lunch box tree in it. When the lunch boxes are ripe, you pick them, open them and inside is a nice lunch. Wouldn't,t you like to have that kind of tree at your school? I hope you enjoy these pictures. Aloha from your silly friend Junior
