Maumee Bay

Hi everybody, Yesterday I left Auburn Indiana and drove up Highway 69 and turned East on Highway 20. I went into another State. What is it called? I spent the night at Maumee Bay State Park. There were lots of pretty birds all around my camp. They moved too fast for me to take pictures. My favorite was a beautiful red bird. It is a Cardinal. Maybe I can try again to get its picture or maybe you can google it. I went for a climb up a hill. From the top I could see a huge lake. I could not see the other side of it. It looked like it just disappeared. The name starts with an E. See if you can find it on your map. At the bottom of the hill was a small lake. There were lots of children having a fishing contest. Some of them wanted to play with me. One girl named Ella gave me a big hug. Her brother let me use his fishing rod. There were fish in the bucket and one boy had his fish measured to see if it was the biggest one caught that day. All over the park were people with binoculars. Then I found out that they are called birders. Maumee Bay is the middle of two bird migration paths where bird fly when the seasons change. This week is the biggest celebration for birders. There will be 3,500 different species of birds here. One birder told Cmor to be vey careful because the cardinals like shiny chrome and will peck at it a lot. Chrome is the shiny metal on cars. I think the cardinals know they are beautiful and are giving themselves kisses in the chome because it is like a mirror.While I was driving along I saw a giant man. He made Cmor look like a toy. I sat on his dirty shoe and looked so tiny. I think all of you could fit in his pockets and he could take you for a ride. I found a playground and wanted to play. There has    been so much rain here and many places are flooded. Why do you think I did not slide or swing?
I went to The Marblehead Lighthouse. I saw the white lightkeepers house. He had to climb up all the stairs inside the lighthouse every night to light the big lamp so no boats would run ashore on the rocks and get stuck. He did not have to light it in the winter because the huge lake would freeze and no ships would be sailing then.  I like to eat sandwiches, but at McDonalds a big sandwich almost ate me.
