Day six

Hi everyone. I am a very tired sock monkey. I had a busy day. Do all of you know every state has a special flower and bird and flag and lots of other special things? Californias State flower is a bright orange color. Anyone know it's name. I know our state bird is the quail. They are cute little birds and look like they have a little flag on their heads. There are lots of them running and flying around our camp so I think they must all be on vacation too. I started out my day going to Mountain home to see a penny mural. It is on the side of a building and made with almost all pennies. There are also some other coins too. The artist put his mural up high so school kids could add their own pennies on the bottom with glue. Wouldn't that be fun? I wish I had glue with me. Maybe next time. I went next to the Bruneau sand dunes. They were really high and I only climbed part way up. The sand was very hot. There were some people sliding down on boards pretending it was snow. Then I saw the Steele Reed observatory. I tried to be a sun dial but I wasn't tall enough.
Look at the picture and try to figure out how the roof slides open so the telescope inside can see the stars. I walked acrross the Snake river on a very high bridge. Then I climbed on a model of the bridge and pretended I was King Kong.

Many years ago a man named Evel Knievel tried to fly a rocket powered motorcycle from one side to the other.  As soon as he started one of his safety parachutes opened too soon and he floated doen to the bottom of the valley and landed safely. He was vey brave but I don't think that was a very smart thing to do. I finished my day by hiking down to see the Shoshone Falls. They are taller than Niagara falls. It is very warm here so I drank lots of water. I  have heard it is very hot there at your school also. Make sure you drink lots of water too. It is very good for you. Now I am going to have a banana and go to bed.
