yellowstone day one

I started my wonderful day seeing a bison up close. I used to think they were called Buffalo but I was wrong.  Yellowstone Park is a National Park and belongs to all of us. The Part we are in now is called a caldera. That is the top of a volcano when the lava blows out. It happened a long time ago and now grass and trees and bushes and animals live here. But it is still over a volcano. All over Yellowstone are geyser fields. While we drove around we could see steam and mud bubbling up from the ground. It looks like the ground is on fire. There are more geysers here than anywhere in the world. It is very dangerous around the geysers because the steam and mud is very hot. There are boardwalks where I could walk and see the mud and bubbles coming up. The minerals and bacteria in the pools made beautiful colors. There is one special geyser called Old Faithful because it erupts about once an hour and shoots up into the air very high. I went to visitors stations around the park and got to see how big my foot was compared to a grizzly bear and a black bear. I saw.ots of waterfalls. I even sawba y bison. They are orange color while they are little. See if you can find them in my pictures. All around here are Lodgepole pine trees. They are tall and straight. The Indians used them for their homes called lodges and for teepees and even to use as a kind of sled to pull behind their horses to carry their things on. I saw elk in the river and on the sides of the road. I ended the day seeing more Bison on thr road right in front od Cmor. The animals in Yellowstone are usually not afraid of people . But they are still wild animals and we have to very careful around them. I have one more day here in Yellowstone, so I am going to bed now so I can dream about sleeping in a volcano. Sweet dreams from Junior.
